Jul / Christmas

Hvordan holder I jul?

We have a lot of blogfriends from all over the world. Therefore this post will be about how we spend our Christmas Eve.

Mom and dad both have children and grand children, therefore they swift between them to spend the Christmas Eve. every two year. The other year the children spend by there in-laws.

We allways celebrate a "before Christmas" with those we don't spend the Christmas Eve with. At that evening we eat a delicious dinner and get Christmas presents. This year we celebrated "before Christmas" on 22th of december, so we've already got the first Christmas presents. (I got a ball and Dudi got a tiny ball, which fits in her little mouth).

Christmas Eve, the big evening, is here in Denmark 24th of december. Many people like to go to church this day, but mom and dad is to busy to go to church.

We usually start at 5 pm or 5.30 pm. Then the family comes to celebrate Christmas Eve with us. For dinner we gets duck, roasted pork, potatoes and sugared potatoes and of course red cabbage, although for Dudi and my sake we easily could settle with roasted pork and duck. For dessert we get risalamande. I don't know if you're familiar with that? It's actually rice pudding mixed with vanilla and whipped cream in which there has beed added an almond. Yummi. The person who gets the almond will get a little present. If there is children we may cheat a bit, and put an almond in there portion, so they gets a present too.

Our Christmas tree
Afterwards when the dish is done - sigh, sigh too long to wait - are we going to dance around the Christmas tree which is well-decorated and with lots of Christmas presents underneath. The adults holding hands while they walk around the tree and sing Christmas carols, and I usually go opposite around, closest to the gifts so I can keep an eye on them. I love Christmas presents.

We're waiting......

When we finish walking around the Christmas tree, we get gifts. There are always many gifts for everyone, also for us. When the gifts are unwrapped  we have coffee and Christmas sweets, like something with marzipan and then we enjoy ourselves the rest of the evening which ends around midnight.

On Christmas Day we usually have a big Christmas lunch with a variety of delicious dishes. It usually starts at 1pm and ends at 7-8pm. On Boxing Day, we sometimes goes to friends to Christmas lunch  too and sometimes it's just cozy at home watching movies.

This year we are staying at home, because we have som doggy friends visiting while there mom and dad are on holiday.

Merry Christmas every one. How do you spend your Christmas?
