Rumhund /Space dog

My mom was reading about the Russian space dog Laika, which I actually  is named after. Now it is not my mom and dad who came up with the name, because I was already named, when they bought me.
She was so sorry for the space dog. It was sent into space with the Russian spacecraft Sputnik 2 in November 1957, but died after only a few hours from overheating and stress. It is said, however, that it lived for a week and were gassed as it was scheduled. Back then they could not land spacecrafts again.

The Space dog Laika is ready to go into Space.
Den er ikke glad for det.
The dog isn't happy about it.
Og det ender ikke godt for den.
And it don't end up very well.
Even though I am named after a celebrity, I prefer kissing with mom rather than become famous!

And as you all know I'm not much into kissing.

  4. I didn't know this story about how you got your name or the actual dog that didn't fare very well in space. Yikes. I can see why you'd rather be kissing mom even though you're not into kissing.

Have a woof woof day. My best to your mom. ☺

  6. SHE remembers Laika and thought you were named for her. SHE remembers HER dad making the whole family get up in the early hours of the morning to go out to see Sputnik, because it was history in the making. Yeah, SHE's old.

So sad for all those EXPENDABLE animal lives....

  7. Crikey Laika ...... It was good that you were named after such a wonderful girl, aye?? You must be VERY proud of your name. Why do humans think they can do things like that?? Why don't they use other humans instead. There's some REAL BAD BLOKES out there that need exterminating, anyway. Why can't they use them??

    1. I think perhaps because they are able to talk and protest. The animal can't talk and protest so the humans have to do that for them.

  8. I remember hearing about Laika as a child in the 60's. Dogs and monkeys really shouldn't become astronauts.
